I was going to post the other day to remind everyone that Project Rockstar was restarting on Monday morning, and that if you’ve ever played the game, or ever thought about it, this was your chance to get in from the start and compete on a level playing field.

PR is a Rockstar management game, you start with a single act, and build up your stable of artists, while dictating to them whether they write songs, play gigs, practise etc.  In some areas it’s quite simplistic, in others it gets detailed, you’re not only choosing how long to practise, but which instrument to practise, and even which particular technique on that instrument.

Once you’ve established yourself as a bit of a music mogul, you can invest some of your hard earned cash in buying a record label, which means other players can improve their songs by recording at your studios, and you take a cut of the profits.

The game really gets into it’s own once you’ve built up a decent stable, you can either crank out tune after tune and make as much money as possible, or spend more time on your craft and try for chart hits.

My highest entry in the singles chart was number 11, and in the album charts, number 30 .  Pixie beat both of these (git), but WrongMark (for all his claims at being a better manager) didn’t get close to either ;p

Anyway the game was restarting, losing you everything you’d built, but, level playing field, fresh start.. would be a bit boring for the first few weeks with hardly any artists, so nothing to actually do each day, but it would only take a little while to get several artists…

right? …

They relaunched it.. and almost in passing mentioned that you were now limited to only one band, and to not owning a label..

…unless you sign up to the ‘Premium Package’ …  a great game, now a pants game: mah!

Annoyingly I was telling this story to Claire last night, I got as far as “they announced the reset..” and she predicted “So they got you hooked and now they’re charging for it?”

bah! (not sure whether it annoys me more what Project Rockstar did.. or that Claire predicted it and I didn’t)

Anyway, they gave me an idea…

Any day now (hopefully) Less than Daily will be moving to a new format, and as such, from launch day I’ll be implementing a pay per view system.  (See below)

For the time being I’ll be working on an honesty system, visit the site, and stick a quid in a jar, payment can be made in Blackpool.  If I feel the system is being abused however I may have to do ‘something technical’ with cookies.

I call it the Less than Daily Premium Package.
