I mentioned a few posts ago that I would at some point tell the story of when I accidentally insulted Percy Sugden (Coronation Street).

Now (whilst I’m writing ten blogs at once (see previous post)) seems as good a time as any.

It happened many years ago (when he was still in the show), I was a young buck, and accompanied by my best friend Polly Hedgecock.

I’ve now lost touch with Polly .. and have done the occasional internet search to see if I can find her again, but no mention… however now I’ve mentioned her name, Google will pick it up, and if she ever does a Google search for her name, it’ll bring her here .. so Polly .. get in touch!

.. back to the story… and accompanied by my best friend Polly Hedgecock and my (at the time) girl of choice Vicki Mason (same applies as above), we did the Granada Studios Tour.

After walking down Coronation Street (if you watch the show, I’ve posted a letter in the post box you see, and made a phone call from the telephone box .. both of which work), we visited the merchandise shop.

As we walked in, there was a huge poster advertising a new book written by the guy who plays Percy, the book was something about the 2nd world war.

On seeing the poster, Vicki exclaimed “Eww! who’d want to buy a book by that boring old fart!?!”

She went very quiet when she noticed that sat underneath the poster was Percy himself signing copies of his book.

Not much of a story I know, but it’s another famous person insulted, and a chance to mention Polly Hedgecock and Vicki Mason .. in case they ever google their own names.

edit: realised if I’m asking old friends to get in touch, I should probably tell them how to, and also who I am!
