Pixie and Bowch have recently posted their reviews of 2003, so thought I should do one too.

I was going to mention films of the year .. but they’ve both covered that area already, and my taste in films is almost identical to Pixies .. although I don’t watch as much dwarf porn as him.

I could write a review of 2003 about events in my own life … but I’ve already blogged all that..

Best things of 2003 were Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean.

But that’s not much of a review, 2003 seems to be covered already, so I’m gonna review 2004.

2004 was a good year, so far it’s only lasted 14 days, which is unusual for a year, but I’m assured it’ll come good and not only make it all the way to 365 days .. it’ll go one better and hit 366.

But as I say that’s just speculation, at 14 days so far it’s been a short year.  I’ve been ill since last Friday, which means I’m writing my review of 2004 having spent 43% of the year ill .. which is a lot.

The illness has also meant I missed ninJA yesterday, which was the first session back after Christmas .. 2004 was a ninJAless year for me.

Best movie of the year was .. well I saw Pretty Woman last night, that’s always good.  Altho Julia Roberts looks much nicer as the prostitute than when she’s dressed up .. which probably says something about my taste in women .. (Claire is obviously the exception)

Best Book of the year .. I just finished reading Fools Fate, the 6th Fitz book by Robin Hobb … I’ve often tried to convince others of the merits of Fitz, this second trilogy carried on the staggering standards of the first .. I’ve never read another book which has made me care so much about the characters, feel his sorrow .. or get so hungry at the descriptions of food … I’ve spent 6 books with an almost constantly rumbling stomach.

Best music of the year .. am gonna blog about that in the next day or so..

Best TV show of 2004 … I took advantage of my long weekend in bed ill by finally watching my Smallville season 1 dvd’s, they started off ok, very Buffy Season 1, but not quite the same charm ..  halfway through the season it started to work, and by the final episode cliffhanger I was horrified they could leave me hanging like that to find out what happens next ..

Best game I’ve played in 2004 .. Prince of Persia .. The original Prince of Persia inspired Tomb Raider, the new version shows Tomb Raider up (I love Lara and Tomb Raider, so takes a lot for me to say that) … Why jump to reach a ledge when you can run along the wall instead.. fantastic

Best networking moment of the year .. none

In conclusion, 2004 had been promised to be a special extended version of normal years, so far it hasn’t lived up to the 366 days promise.  Altho a short year so far, it’s been packed with quality in each of the major categories I’ve looked at.
