How the internet cured my addiction

For a reason I can’t explain, there’s something about dvd’s I’ve never been able to resist.

I don’t watch video’s any more, and have replaced most of the films I had on video with identical dvd’s.

The trouble is … I’ll often impulse buy dvd’s. I’ll see a film, think “ooh I wanna see that” and spend £20 on a dvd .. to watch it once .. or in some cases, put it on one side meaning to watch it but never quite getting round to doing it. So I have a huge collection of pointless dvd’s.

And that’s just it, I fully realise it’s pointless and expensive to buy a dvd just to watch it once, but going to Blockbuster and renting a dvd is much more of an ‘event’ than simply buying one when I’m in HMV. Even when I convince myself to stop doing it, I find I’m walking out of the shop holding a dvd.

But …

Then I joined Screenselect and it’s cured me!

Now every time I want to impulse buy a dvd .. I just add it to my Screenselect list. It’s saving me a fortune!

There are still dvd’s I intend to buy, the rest of the Angel and X Files boxsets. The Star Wars trilogy, and the odd movie here and there that really appeals. But no more than that.

I’m even thinking of sticking some of my current dvd collection on ebay .. not so much for the cash, but to whittle down some of the crap, so I’ve just got the dvd’s I want.

Yay for Screenselect!
