I went into town to get a sandwich for my lunch yesterday, the streets were full of shoppers and people also out on their lunch, but there was one man who stood out from the rest.

He was unshaven, scruffy, looked a little drunk, and wore a baseball cap, he looked like your typical hobo.

Just as I noticed him, he noticed me .. and in that second we made eye contact…

It was only a few seconds between noticing him and passing him, but I felt he was paying attention to me as we got nearer…

As we passed each other, it was clear he was going to say something, I was expecting him to ask for some change .. instead he said:

“Hi mcphee” (although he used my real name)

and kept on walking.

Which got me thinking.. if you were a hobo, and could have just one superpower, this would be a great one to have .. to instantly know the name of a person just by looking at them …

You could have great fun freaking people out, just by walking down the street saying hi to them.

if I’m ever a hobo, that’s the power I want.
