Day one: greenday

A week last Sunday I went to see Greenday playing at the Milton Keynes Bowl.

It was a red hot day, the gates opened at midday, and I had the tickets, so I felt a little bad that I got caught up playing Warcraft in the morning and was three hours late.. Debs and the Chav didn’t seem to mind having to sit outside the place in the baking sun until I eventually arrived..

We went in and the place was packed with mobile burger vans and overpriced merchandise.  I bought some noodles and a bottle of water… the water was warmer than the noodles!

Greenday were great.  They were filming for the dvd release, so will buy that when it’s out 🙂

At one point they invited 3 fans up on the stage to play one of their songs, one lad on the drums, one on a guitar, and a girl on the bass.  The whole crowd was going wild cheering at them, but as the girl climbed onto stage, the camera panned down onto her belly overhanging her jeans, and wobbling as she clambered up.. 65,000 people went “yaaayyy–ewwwwwwww!!”..

After that song, one lad got the drumsticks, the other got the guitar he’d played, and Billie Jo got the girl to do a stage dive, she took a run up.. dived.. and just before she hit the crowd, the cameras moved off her, all the lights went out and the monitors showed the Greenday guys looking where she’d jumped and wincing.

Greenday finished at 11, got back to my car about 1, and and drove home, altho was so knackered by then I ended up sleeping in a motorway services carpark for a half hour.  Got home about 4.30.. had to be up by 7.30 to go to the airport..
