On the Monday, after getting home from Greenday at 4.30am, I got up 3 hours later to go to Prague.
Claire had some time off work for her 21st, so I had decided to surprise her with a few days away. Claire didn’t know where we were going, I’d sworn everyone who did know to secrecy, and I’d been working on plans to get Claire through the airport without her finding out where we were flying to..
And then a couple of days before we flew, I was talking to her on the phone, and mentioned Prague without realising it, doh!
I’d booked it all last minute though various websites, but found that rather than using Lastminute.com or Expedia to book the whole thing, I could get a much better deal booking the flights through them, and the apartment through… some guy on the internet in the Czech Republic…
I kinda expected to arrive to find the apartment didn’t exist, and I’d given my credit card details to the Russian Mafia.. but it did, and I hadn’t 🙂
Prague was fun, got drunk a few times, had more late nights, avoided pickpockets, saw some bizarre statues in the historic Wenceslas Square (our apartment was actually in Wenceslas Square, which was cool). One statue was of Superman smashing face first into the ground, with blood and bits of skull splattering everywhere, the moral was that even Superman has bad days, so don’t let yours get you down..
We stayed two nights in Prague, and flew back on the Wednesday for Claire’s 21st..
