Free Books, what an idea!

Another example of me being utterly utterly stupid, I’ve decided to give these their own category now, from now on, blogs like this will live in their own “Sometimes I Just Suck” section.

Last Wednesday was the day my months free trial with ScreenSelect ended, and I had to make a decision on whether to cancel it, or start paying.

Screenselect is great. For less than £15 a month, you get sent as many dvd’s as you can watch. You keep out 3 at any time, and as soon as you’ve watched one, stick it in the post and get a new one by return.

Pixie has also noticed a similar scheme with PS2 games.

Which left me thinking…

I read a lot, and there are loads of books I’d like to read, but don’t really want to spend money on.

Several times over the last month I’ve thought to myself “There should be something like ScreenSelect, but for books, where you can borrow the books for free, and when you’ve finished, send them back and get another out”

If something like that doesn’t exist, then someone should invent it..

That would be great…

It’s only today I realised … somebody already did invent it…

they called it The Library

    The Heathrow one was quite amusing too as being a bit of a rail enthusiast, I was wondering why you hadn’t gone by train all the way as the mainline link has been open for six years now smile

    I tried to get a train straight there, but there was a bus replacement service for the end of the journey, probably works on the line or something.

    Am just about to book my travel for the con there at Halloween, it looks like I’m going to fly this time.

    £15 Manchester to Heathrow
    £15 Heathrow to Manchester

    Bargain!

    … plus £34.50 in taxes and fees .. meh

    But still only slightly more expensive than the train, and much quicker.

    .. I would need to get the train into Manchester Airport tho, which might make it too complicated .. and getting a plane means I HAVE to get to the airport in time, at least with a train if I miss one due to being drunk I can still get the next.

    I’ve thought that too… but what we need is an *internet* version of the library – parking near our local one is a right mare – plus the whole get there during opening times fiasco. I want them posted to me and no late fees 😀

    Yeah that’d be great 🙂

    That’s what the internet was created for .. reinventing existing things so that lazy people like me can use them too 🙂

    Some people would argue the internet was actually created to make it easier for academics to exhange important information… Hmmm, theres an “easier” in that sentence.

    Yes, of course the internet was created by lazy people to make things easier for themselves, all intelligent people are lazy because its stupid to do any task in a way that invloves more effort than necessary 🙂
