Are there any technogeeks out there?

At the weekends I want to listen to the live commentary on Liverpool games. But usually at the weekends I’m in Yorkshire, or sometimes Blackpool, or London.

The commentary comes from two sources.
Local Radio. Home matches are broadcast on MW 1548 (Magic 1548), away games on FM 96.7 (Radio City).
t’internet. I subscribe to the liverpoolfc.tv website, you can listen to commentary through RealPlayer or Windows Media Player

The places I’m usually at are too far away to pick up Liverpool’s local radio stations. And I usually don’t have access to the internet.

I’ve considered digital radio, but last time I checked the two stations I need weren’t broadcasting digitally, but also, digital radio is regional also. So even if they were digital, they may not broadcast outside of Liverpool anyway.

Are there high powered radios you can get that can pick up local stations from further away?

Is there some cheap techy device I can get with internet, windows media/real player?

I could dig my old laptop out, see if it still works, use that with my mobile .. but is there anything a little more portable?

Help me technogeeks, you are my only hope.
