Scared of the dark

So, I live in Manchester now

or to be a little more accurate, in Swinton, Salford

I’ve never lived alone before, always with parents, friends or girlfriends, and it’s a bit strange.. at first I really didn’t like it, had visions of me coming home every night to an empty flat and becoming a hermit.

But it’s actually pretty cool 🙂

My local pub is great, the type of place where they carry on serving the locals long after the pub has ‘shut’, where everyone orders takeaway at half 2 to be delivered to the pub, where if they spot you walking home after drinking elsewhere, they’ll unlock the doors and call you in.  Where the landlord will shout across the pub “Oi mcphee [girl] here fancies her chances with you, is she right?” (for the record she was wrong, but was good to hear anyway!) It’s exactly the type of pub that should be 30 seconds from your front door 🙂

I did have to sleep with the telly on for the first week of living alone in a dark empty flat.. but then I remembered I’m a ninJA and got over that.

Original plan was to move in here for three months while I get myself sorted and decide what am gonna do.  I do intend to buy somewhere rather than paying rent, but (despite the poor commute to work every day) I really like the area I’m in so will look for somewhere close.

I’m about 15 minutes on a bus from Manchester centre, about 2 1/2 miles from wrong’uns house (luckily he doesn’t have a car and is too lazy to walk so haven’t seen that much of him).  I also live just away from the ‘top road’, which has more pubs and takeaways together in one place than I think I’ve ever seen, a perfect pubcrawling layout!

After the last few months, things really aint so bad 🙂
